7 Best AI Face Swap Tools in 2026 (Free & Paid)
We spent a month uploading the same photo and the same 20-second clip into every major AI face swap tool on the market. Here's the honest verdict — which ones are worth your time, which ones are overpriced, and which ones quietly keep your data longer than you'd like.
Full disclosure: we build Swap-Video. We've tried to be fair — competitors are listed with their real strengths, and we're upfront about the spots where we're still catching up.
How we tested
- Same source photo (front-facing portrait, even lighting).
- Same 20-second target clip (talking head, soft movement).
- Graded on quality (blend, expression preservation), speed, pricing, privacy policy, and ease of use.
- All results downloaded at each tool's highest available tier.
1. Swap-Video — Best overall for most people
Price: Free (2 swaps), then $9/month Starter or $19/month Pro.
Quality: 9/10 (1080p on Pro tier).
Speed: 2–3 minutes per 15-second clip.
Swap-Video uses the same InsightFace-based pipeline you'll find in most serious face-swap tools, plus a face-enhancement pass on top. On our test clip, the blend around the jaw was clean and micro-expressions (eye crinkles, asymmetric smiles) came through. Privacy is the standout: uploads are deleted within 24 hours and outputs expire after 7 days. Every file is metadata-tagged as AI-generated per the EU AI Act.
Where it loses points: 60-second max clip length on Pro. No API yet. Mobile app is browser-based, not native.

2. DeepSwap — Best for power users
Price: $9.99/month or $49.99/year.
Quality: 9/10.
DeepSwap has been around since 2022 and it shows — the pipeline is mature, and it handles multi-face scenes better than most. If you need to swap two or three faces in one clip, this is the tool. The downside is pricing: there's no true free tier, and the annual plan auto-renews in ways people complain about loudly in reviews. See our detailed DeepSwap alternative page for a side-by-side.
3. Reface — Best for quick mobile fun
Price: Free with ads, $3.99/week Pro.
Quality: 7/10.
Reface is the tool your teenage cousin already has on their phone. The GIF and short-clip library is huge, the app is polished, and it's genuinely fun. But for longer clips or full video uploads, Reface is limited — it's really built around short meme-length content. Pricing is per-week, which adds up fast if you forget to cancel.
4. Akool — Best for enterprise & marketing teams
Price: Starts at $30/month, custom enterprise plans.
Quality: 9/10.
Akool targets brands that want to personalize video ads at scale. The face-swap quality is top-tier, the API is well-documented, and their consent workflow is enterprise-grade. For an individual user, though, it's overkill and overpriced. See our Akool alternative breakdown.
5. FaceMagic — Solid free tier
Price: Free with watermark, $9.99/month Pro.
Quality: 7/10.
FaceMagic lives on mobile app stores and delivers surprisingly good results for a free app. The catch is the watermark on free outputs and a noticeable quality ceiling compared to Swap-Video or DeepSwap. If you're swapping faces for TikTok and don't mind a small logo in the corner, it's fine.
6. Remaker — Good web-based option
Price: Free tier (low-res), $9.99/month Pro.
Quality: 7.5/10.
Remaker nails the basics: drag and drop, reasonable quality, no mobile app required. The web interface is clean. Our gripe is inconsistency — on some clips results were great, on others the lip-sync drifted for no obvious reason. Also worth noting: their data retention policy is 30 days, which is longer than most.
7. Vidnoz — Cheapest subscription
Price: Free (limited), $8.29/month Pro.
Quality: 7/10.
Vidnoz bundles face swap with a wider AI video suite (avatars, voice cloning, translation). If you want a Swiss Army knife, this is a decent pick. If you only want face swap, the quality is a notch below the specialists on this list.
Quick comparison table
| Tool | Free tier | Quality | Starting price |
|---|---|---|---|

Our verdict
If you just want to swap a face in a video, don't overthink it — start with the free tier of Swap-Video or DeepSwap. If you're an enterprise buyer, look at Akool. If you're a teenager making memes, Reface is basically built for you. Everyone else lands in the middle of the pack.
Whichever tool you pick, check the data retention policy and only swap faces you have permission to use. For more on that, see Is AI Face Swap Legal? and How to Face Swap a Video.
